This gem of inspiring quote information came through my Facebook newsfeed as I was scrolling through after I finished with an awesome client.
What it said really struck me as I’ve spent so many years hiding who I am. Only in the last few as I’ve been stepping out with my business have I started to let people see me and all my “weirdness”.
I recently was given the opportunity to go on a vacation to LA and Las Vegas, with the family I married into. I went, and when we arrived in Vegas on the Saturday afternoon after 4 days in LA, it was super loud, packed and full of drunk people on the strip.
I was overstimulated and crazy grumpy within minutes of walking around there.
The next day as we prepared to explore again I was self recriminating over how different I am from my traveling companions, something I’ve been working on not doing as much anymore.
Then when my husband asked me what was going on and I expressed what I was feeling, he reminded me that the world would be very boring if everyone was all the same. And that it was ok not to like the same things as other people. He’s so awesome.
It really made me realize that I have become a much more sensitive person, and that my needs do matter. Before I’d just “suck it up” but be very miserable and rather passive aggressive about it.
So here I am valuing my sensitive, weird, quirky, magical self.
All from the permission of a quote image I saw on Facebook. I have wonderful gifts that help people very much. It doesn’t matter if I don’t like large noisy crowds of drunk people. I am me and I am ok.
